Don't use Resolution for curve-writing

Original post

You might not wanna use "resolution" for curve write-in effects.

You might have noticed a thing called Bevel Factor in the curve data properties, and the fact that it has a start and an end parameter, and you can use it to "write" the curve in. if you care about 0.3 actually meaning 30% of the way through the curve, you might wanna not use Resolution, because it inherently relies on the way the curve ends up being segmented. in other words, it'll animate faster on straight line segments, which makes the thing uneven and seemingly unpredictable.

I'll paste this straight from the blender docs:

Resolution: Only count control points, disregarding the lengths of the spline segments (pieces of spline between two control points). If a spline has three control points and Factor Start is set to 0.5, the geometry will always start at the second control point, even if its distances to the first and third control points are completely different.

Spline: Calculate an accurate percentage along the length of the spline.

Segments: Calculate an approximate percentage along the length of the spline by assuming that all the subdivisions within each segment are evenly distributed.
